MOVING ON
The original website was started with
Black Bee End
the aim of improving the quality of our honey bees in the Pendle area and attempting to get back to have a population of indigenous British Black bees - melifera melifera
I think we have made some progress and along the way have perhaps been able to give advice on some of the better practices in beekeeping

In the last few months a new organisation has been set up which
Offshoots Logo SMALL
has the same aims but which has funding and a professional staff. I know that the members of our little group of beekeepers will co-operate fully and support them. They are a friendly bunch and will welcome your participation.

The project goes under the banner of Bees in the Borough and you can find more about them and the parent project OFFSHOOTS by going to their website
http://www.offshoots.org.uk/bees_in_the_borough.html

They are based at Towneley Hall and have plans to provide training and maybe even colonies of bees for people living in the area.

So, the Black Bees website has now run its course and as we feel there is nothing worst than a neglected, dead and dusty website, we are removing the blog from the internet. However, (There’s always a ‘but’ or ‘however’, isn’t there?) several people have said they will miss some of Bill’s recipes and procedures so we have decided to leave them on the web.

At the bottom of the page there is a link to a list of titles with a brief description and if you click on the link, you should be able to read them on your computer screen and save them as PDFs, you can then read them later or you can print them out.

As
we have had several requests to keep the blog going. (Well, a couple of people said they missed it !). Bill is going to start a sort of monthly diary of what he is doing in his apiary. We won’t be sticking strictly to the monthly bit, we may miss the odd month and perhaps have more than one entry some months.

Anyone will be able to add comments and we hope that experienced beekeepers will share with us what they are doing at various stages of the beekeeping year. The comments can also be in the form of a question. If there is something you don’t understand or you would like help with, please add a comment.

Click on BILL'S BEEKEPING DIARY (Upper right on this page) to see just what he is up to

Carry on with the good work and keep an eye on ‘Bees in the Borough’ so you can keep up to date with what other beekeepers are doing in our area.
